Day 3 in Taipei, Christmas & Constitution Day
Friday, December 25th, 2009
Happy Constitution Day &/or Merry Christmas from Taipei!!!
I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Or happy Constitution Day, as it is here in Taipei. Tomorrow is my friend Shou Chi's wedding reception here. Monday, we go to Malaysia. Then next Sunday is the ceremony there. This may be the warmest Christmas I've ever had, though it's only in the 60's and rainy. This is my first Christmas not spent with any family, though Shou Chi can be like a sister to me. Also definitely is my farthest from home on a holiday. Though New Years in Kuala Lumpur will change that next week :) Ok, I should get going! Have a great day everyone! Have a wonderful New Year too!
Answering my uncle's question about what I have eaten here:
I have had black eggs (boiled chicken and other birds), pigs blood, oysters, squid or cuttlefish (Shou Chi isn't sure of the translation), congee, taro balls, foot high ice creams (ube-green tea swirl and a mango) cones, turnip cakes, taro cakes, bread stuffed with cuttlefish paste, mochi in bread, fresh ... See More starfruit and other fruits I don't know the names, dried/pickled cranberries, mango, and Taiwanese peaches. Hrmm that's all I can think of that's different from more usual fare.

Day 2 in Taipei
Thursday, December 24th, 2009
Day 2 in Taipei started early with waking before 7 am even though I was up past 2. Then I helped Shou Chi with her music for the reception. Later sight-seeing with Ken's family, as it's also their first time here, only I'll be the only non-Chinese speaker.
Yesterday's pictures were mostly of food! I always takes lots of pictures, but not inside the home usually. Since I'm just using my cell for internet access, I don't know if I'll have any pictures to upload before I get home. I'll try though.
Shou Chi had several things to take care of before we were able to meet up with Ken and his family in Dangshui.

Day 1 in Taipei
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
I landed safely in Taipei. It's about 7:30 am now and our plane landed early at 6:00. Our flight was early, so I am waiting for Shou Chi. She couldn't have known our plane would land over 40 minutes early. I mostly feel like it is early morning and I got a fairly decent night's sleep, but if I don't do anything I'll probably fall asleep.
There's free wifi here at airport, so that's nice to use with my phone. It was a very nice flight & airline. It didn't seem like 14 hours at all, but then I did sleep most of them. And I did manage to watch 3 movies too: Taiwnese movie "Cape No 7," American movie "Shorts"and the German movie "Rabbit Without Ears."
I'd never heard of EVA Airlines before, but I definitely liked them. I'll be flying them back to SF on the 5th. Food wasn't bad either. Ok I'll walk around some and see if I see Shou Chi. At least she's tall, so she should stick out, thoug not as much as me!
End of Day 1 in Taipei. Feeling quite tired, although I caught a 2 hr nap. Hours spent in hair salon are very relaxing. Can you tell a difference between this photo and my photo from 21st?

Night 1 to Taipei
Monday, December 21st, 2009
I left Monday night to fly to Taipei for my best friend Shou Chi's wedding to Ken.
EVA is a nice airline. New clean seats. Gave us each our own blanket & small pillow. Individual screens & remotes. The couple next to me just asked for earplugs (and no I am not talking.) I even have leg room with my long legs! This isn't going to be too bad of a 14 hour experience. I predict sleeping through the majority of it.
